Mike Wehrs - Chief Executive Officer & President

Mike Wehrs has been a fixture in the wireless industry for over ten years, having held key positions which have helped shape the industry. Most recently, Mr. Wehrs was the Global CEO and President of the Mobile Marketing Association. There, he directed all activities of the MMA and provided leadership for it's 700+ members, representing more than 40 countries worldwide, including aggregators, agencies, brands, carriers, and developers. Mr. Wehrs has also held executive management roles at Nuance Communications, Inc., Microsoft Corporation, AOL, Ignition Corp., Samsung Electronics, among others. He has sat on a number of industry standards boards including CTIA, OMA, .mobi, Bluetooth SIG, WAP Forum, and QIC committee. He currently sits on the board of BNET Communications and is an advisor to several notable companies in the mobile and marketing industries. Wehrs graduated with a Bachelors in Computer and Information Science from Syracuse University.


Alan Atlas - Chief Technology Officer and SVP, Development

Alan Atlas began his career as a hardware engineer with Bell Laboratories almost 30 years ago. During this time, he has managed engineering and operations for media internet companies like RealNetworks, lead the early development of the Amazon Cloud, and most recently consulted for leading technology companies as an Agile Coach at Rally Software. Alan brings a deep understanding of modern software development process and he is one of about a dozen people in the world to hold both the Certified Scrum Master Trainer and Certified Scrum Coach designations. Alan is a co-holder of three patents and has been published in several conferences and publications. He has overseen two industry-award-winning developments, AvidNews 1.0 and Amazon S3.


Wayne Silverman – Chief Revenue Officer

Silverman brings more than 20 years of strategic sales, marketing and business development experience to Scanbuy. Prior to joining the company, he held the position of Vice President and Group Publisher of CBS Interactive and CNET Networks and was the Vice President/Publisher of PC World. Mr. Silverman leads and executes global revenue strategy, which includes further expanding its footprint through the development of strategic partnerships and alliances, driving market positioning, creating sales strategies and overseeing business negotiations.



David Javitch – Vice President Marketing

David Javitch comes from the world of advertising and marketing where he spent nine years managing integrated campaigns for Fortune 500 companies. He brings a deep understanding of the industry's latest trends and needs in an evolving media landscape. Mr. Javitch's current role is to ensure strategically aligned communication for the company and to consult potential marketers in the use of 2D codes. His last position was at Publicis USA where he worked with Procter & Gamble, Beam Spirits and Citi. During that time, he managed one of P&G's largest product launches in company history with the introduction of Prilosec OTC which won a number of industry awards. He has also worked with the General Mills and Hasbro companies.


Adam Gold – Vice President, North America Sales

Adam is a veteran multi-media sales professional, and a graduate of the Internet Advertising Institute's inaugural class. He spent five years with Advertising Age leading sales for the creative and technology categories. Prior to Advertising Age, Adam was responsible for sales and new business development for two creative agencies. He spent the majority of his career in the publishing world rising through the ranks from sales executive to publisher at Miller Freeman, now Nielsen Business Media. Adam began his career in telephone sales for R.H Donnelley selling yellow page advertising throughout the New York City and Long Island regions. He currently resides in New Rochelle, NY with his wife and two sons.


Avi Chai Outmezguine – General Counsel & Co–Founder

Chai Outmezguine has been serving as the company’s General Counsel with a focus on managing a growing IP portfolio and is also developing Scanbuy's global partnerships within the mobile commerce industry. He is the inventor of several patents on behalf of Scanbuy relative to the decoding and use of linear and two dimensional barcodes. Prior to joining Scanbuy, Outmezguine was the General Counsel for IDVector, an international firm engaged in maximizing the value of intellectual property rights in the IT industry. There he led the intellectual property protection and valuation and also established a number of strategic alliances with Fortune 500 companies. Outmezguine graduated from Georgetown University Law Center and obtained a law degree with honors from Essex University School of Law in England. He also holds a B.A. in Finance from the Business School of IEA, Paris. He is member of the New York State Bar.


Sheila Malvagna - Senior Director, Carrier & Handset OEM Relations

Sheila Malvagna brings over twenty years of experience in the wireless industry, including a variety of leadership positions in sales and business development. Prior to Scanbuy, Malvagna was Director of Sales for the Americas at Glu Mobile, a leading global publisher of mobile games. There she developed close partner relationships with key wireless carriers in the U.S. while concurrently building Glu’s broad Latin American distribution from the ground up. Sheila has also held domestic and international management positions at Good Technology, Netonomy, Corsair Communications, and Mobile Telecommunication Technologies. She has extensive experience working with wireless carriers and a particular emphasis on introducing emerging technologies to new markets.


Julie Gosal Hoarau – Vice President, Finance

Julie Gosal Hoarau has extensive experience in both Public and Private Accounting. She previously worked at KVB Partners, a CPA firm that specializes in providing tax and accounting advisory services to U.S. affiliates of international companies across multiple sectors. While at KVB, she was the Lead Manager for a number of clients including AXA Private Equity, Sisley Cosmetics, Net2s and Baron Philippe de Rothschild. She was most recently head of the Finance department at Net2s U.S., a fast growing IT Security company publicly traded in France which was acquired by British Telecom. Post transaction, Julie was responsible for leading its financial integration with British Telecom. Julie is a CPA and completed a joint MBA from the University of Bordeaux and University of Birmingham, UK.


Punit Raizada – Vice President, Product Development

Punit joined Scanbuy in its early stages and has worked in transforming the initial prototypes into a deployed product. He oversees the development of the product and manages day to day activities of the engineering team. Punit holds a Masters degree in Computer Science from New Jersey Institute of Technology.

Dennis Carey - Vice Chairman, Korn/Ferry International 

Dennis Carey is currently Vice Chairman at Korn/Ferry International and specializes in the recruitment of CEOs and corporate directors for Fortune 500 companies.  In recent years, Mr. Carey has conducted searches for the current CEOs of 3M, Tyco International, and MCI, among others. Dennis also has conducted board director searches for dozens of companies, including American Express, CBS, Tyco International, GlaxoSmithKline, Goldman Sachs, and Merrill Lynch.   Mr. Carey serves as a director of AirClic, The Edgewater Funds and Wharton's Director's Institute, which he co-founded.  He also has published three books: CEO Succession, The Human Side of M&A, and How to Run a Company. 

Bill Carson - Managing Director, Hudson Ventures 

Bill Carson joined Hudson Ventures in 2002 and focuses on early stage technology companies in financial technology, wireless and business application software. Mr. Carson currently represents Hudson on the board of directors of Integral, Pivot, and Scanbuy, and was responsible for firm's investment in Guardent before it was sold to Verisign. Prior to joining Hudson, Mr. Carson ran Citigroup's Strategic Investment Group, co-founded the Citigroup Technology Investment Fund, served on the Investment Committee for the firm's Fund of Funds and was a member of the corporation's Internet Operating Group. In addition to his venture capital experience, Mr. Carson managed Citigroup's internal M&A group during the 1990's where he was responsible for all of Citigroup's acquisitions and divestitures. He started his career as a product engineer at IBM working in both the storage and software manufacturing businesses. Mr. Carson has undergraduate degrees in both engineering and economics from the University of Notre Dame and a MBA from the University of Chicago. 

Simon Pelman - Board of Directors 

Simon Pelman has nearly four decades as a pioneer and innovator in the industry of health care administration.  He has served as President and CEO of numerous New York City-area residential health care facilities that include over 1,000 beds and generate in excess of $100 million per year.  Pelman brings his unparalleled connections and business acumen to guide the company's expansion to serve the intersection between the healthcare industry and mobile barcodes.  Pelman holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Bernard M. Baruch College, along with a Post Masters Certificate in Gerontological Practice from Adelphi University and an Associate degree in Community Health Education for Hunter/Mt. Sinai Geriatric Health Center.  He has received numerous congressional citations and an accommodation for 25 years of community board service from the borough President of Queens. 

Stephen K. Smith - Managing Partner of Masthead Venture

Steve Smith has been a partners of Masthead Venture for 11 years. Mr. Smith is a former All-Star Analyst who headed PaineWebber’s technology research group. Ten times named to Institutional Investor All Star team; twice named the Wall Street Journal analyst of the year. Systems engineering and sales positions with ICL. Member of Common Angels. MBA from Harvard; Computer Science Degree, Brighton Polytechnic University. Current Board Director of Packet Design, formerly on boards of Bitpipe (acquired by TechTarget), Ecount (acquired by Citigroup) and Tizor Systems (acquired by Netezza).

Tony Palcheck - Managing Director, Motorola Solutions Ventures

Tony Palcheck is a managing director at Motorola Ventures, based in Schaumburg, Illinois. In this role, he is responsible for identifying and executing strategic, minority-equity investments (at early and later stages) in start-up firms to accelerate access to new technologies, new markets and new talent for all Motorola businesses.  Prior to joining Motorola Ventures, Tony was a director in the Corporate Business Intelligence group at Motorola where he was responsible for identifying emerging technologies and researching potential investments, divestitures, acquisitions and alliances. He joined the Intelligence group from Motorola's Cellular Infrastructure Group, where he led the next generation cellular market requirements research, forecasting and segmentation efforts. Tony holds an undergraduate degree in marketing and an MBA from DePaul University in Chicago, where he graduated with honors. Tony servers as an adjunct professor of marketing at Lake Forest Graduate School of Management.

Yves Raymond – Board Observer, Motorola Mobility

Yves Raymond is responsible for defining the investment pipeline and executing on investments through partnerships, joint ventures, venture investments and acquisitions for Motorola Mobility’s mobile devices business. Raymond has led many of Motorola’s recent acquisitions such as Zecter Inc, Aloqa GmgH, 3LM and Soundbuzz – and was instrumental in the divestiture of several Motorola development sites in Europe. Raymond started his career with Motorola in Ottawa, Canada and has held key management positions in sales, marketing and product development for several Motorola businesses over the past 22 years. He has extensive international product marketing experience with a focus on launching products globally. He also sits as a Board Observer and Director for BlackArrow, Inc.
